May I through your newspaper, draw attention to the desperate plight of the green fields and ephemeral ponds near Hellifield?
We have yet another planning application to build wooden chalets on an area which floods every year.
The plans are a re-hash of a larger plan which was overwhelmingly rejected in 2019. It is an outline application which means that, if passed, the area covered could be increased. The Dales would lose important green space which has been widely enjoyed by generations. Parts of it were already badly damaged five years ago.
Please can everyone who cares about the habitat for rare birds and wildlife, write in to North Yorkshire Council and comment by December 4.
Other concerns are about flooding, sewage, pollution & road safety because of increased traffic on an already busy A65.
There would be no benefit to the nearby villages and there is already plenty of holiday accommodation close by.
