Embsay move up to third place in Division One on run rate after seeing off bottom side Sutton by 115 runs.

The Shires Laners batted first and posted a score of 218-3 with Duncan Ward making 71not out and Simon Bailey (70).

The visitors were dismissed for 103 with Stephen Speak taking five for 33 and Ben Airey (4-37).

Bradley are fourth following their four wicket win over Cowling. The visitors batted first and were dismissed for 114 with the left arm spinner James Heseltine (7-20) doing the damage.

Bradley were reduced to 10-3 but Craig Tempest (38) and John Hilary (34not out) eased them to their target.

Nick Williamson hit an unbeaten 104 as Glusburn thrashed Bingley Congs by 189 runs. Faisal Sardar (54) gave him good support.

Glusburn made 264-8 before bowl-ing out Congs for 75 with Bashat Khan (3-6) and Steve Filkin (3-20) the key bowlers.

Barrowford strengthened their position at the top of the table when they beat Denholme by 43 runs.

Neil Hargreaves (83) and Liam Roberts (36) set the platform for a score of 202-8. Mark Atkinson took 6-44 as Denholme were dismissed for 159.

Airedale move into second spot after defeating Embsay II by 166 runs.

Cononley beat Ingrow St John's by ten runs. Mark Paynter made 42 in a Cononley score of 140. The Saints were undone by a splendid piece of bowling by Matt Town who finished with eight for 68 as they were dismissed for 130.

Bottom team Glusburn II suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Ingrow. Karl Samson made 38 as they made 177 despite good bowling from Dale Hoyle (5-63). Ingrow cruised home with Wayne Exley (51), Andy Parker (49) and David Brown (42no) in good form.

Skipton CI slipped up on their travels to Ingrow St John's II in Division Three, losing by 81 runs despite John Stuttard claiming a hat-trick in his spell of six for 54.

Carleton's Matt Carr also performed the hat-trick in his side's six-run defeat by Gargrave.

Ian Wellock (7-76) was the pick of the Carleton bowlers as Gargrave, thanks largely to 68 from Taz Malik, made 170. Malik completed a fine all-round performance by taking five for 44 to secure the narrow win.

Cowling II were too strong for visitors Haworth WE - winning by seven wickets. Nick Staveley took five for two and made 50 not out and was clearly the man of the match.

An opening stand of 133 by Mick Foster (90) and Steve Laycock (53) helped Thornton II pile up 259-8 at Sandy Lane II in Division Four. Marc Laycock also chipped in with 50.

Sandy Lane II crashed to 58 all out with Laycock (4-10) and 16-year-old Jack Laycock (3-30) doing the most damage.

Division Five leaders Haworth WE II were made to worked hard for the points by Cononley II.

Cononley made 209-8 but Haworth WE II got home with Les Jones (108) and S Chipman (52) helping the Bronte side to the points by seven wickets with six balls to spare.

Glusburn III won the battle of the third teams when they beat Oakworth III by six wickets.

H Kay made 91 as Chatburn II scored 202-9 at Sutton II. The home side replied with 125.

Skipton CI II lost by 44 runs at home to Foulridge II, and Gargrave II were too strong for Pendle Forest III winning by eight wickets.

The two outstanding ties of the first round were completed on Sunday with Sutton and Ingrow progressing to the second round.

Another First Division side slid out as Bingley Congs went down in a high-scoring game at Hainworth.

Cong must have been feeling confident as they hit 278-9 in their innings with Neil Copping making 93 and Tim Summers 44.

However Ingrow had other ideas as they stormed to a three-wicket victory.

The surprise was that the highest individual score was 48no from Dale Hoyle. Warren Coppack and Aide Parker both made 45, Neil Coppack 41no and Phil Sharpe 40. The winners play Foulridge away in the next round.

Sutton's reward for a116 run victory at Wilsden is a trip to Chatburn. They batted first and with opener Chris Capstick making 95no they posted 173-8. He was joined by Ben Bolland, who scored 33no, with the score on 89-8. Wilsden slumped to 57 all out with Justin Holdsworth taking three for 16 and Bolland (3-19).
