THE battle to avoid the final relegation place from Division Three of the Aire-Wharfe League is between Skipton and Menston.
Just six points clear of the bottom two, Menston and already relegated Harden, Skipton lost by 26 runs at Alwoodley on Saturday.
Skipton's opening bowlers Iqbal Khan (1-34 in 15 overs) and Shahid Nadeem (1-16 in 11 overs) bowled well to keep the Alwoodley run rate down, but Will Jackson (46) and Kashif Rehman (44) were steady in leading the home side to 147-8. Skipper Gary Owens took 4-52 for Skipton.
Skipton only had three batsmen score in the twenties, as Jackson's 4-25 led the way as Alwoodley restricted Skipton to 121 all out.
Menston went down to a six-wicket defeat at home to Thackley.
Menston had three batsmen score in the thirties, led by Shahid Bashir's 39, as they set a target of 177. Henry Edwards's spell of 3-14 led the Thackley bowling attack.
Stefan Mather's knock of 51 guided Thackley to victory with a little more than five overs to spare.
Skipton host Harden this Saturday at Sandylands and Menston travel to mid-table Bolton Villas.
Addingham's 37-run victory at North Leeds leaves the home side vulnerable to relegation from Division One.
Ben Brearley's knock of 48 helped Addingham set a target of 177, as Aftab Karim took 4-20.
Solid bowling by Ricky Palacio (3-24) and Richard Atkins (3-32) helped Addingham bowl North Leeds out for 140.
In Division Two, Steeton lost by four wickets at New Rover.
Steeton, led by James Robinson's unbeaten 56no, posted a total of 186-7, but New Rover knocked off those runs with four overs to spare.
