The Knights travelled to Huddersfield to take on Almondbury Spartans A ,with a patched up team and missing some key players from last week's game against Wibsey warriors.
The knights however did not take long to settle into the game after Jamie Evans received the ball from a high kick off, which led Max Mountain and Daz Greenwood to return the ball with interest to get the Knights in good field position.
A huge defensive effort from the Knights saw captain Charlie Brown and second rower Luke Darling dominate the Spartans forwards, causing the ball to be turned over.
A quick play the ball and speed ruck got Chris stead to split open the Spartans defence, where he fed Max Mountain who was held up just short of the line. The Knights capitalised on this with Gaz Lancaster crashing over for the first score of the game, but Greenwood missed the two.
The Knights did not let up, with high quality runs from captain Brown and Jacob Midgley, giving good field position for the backs to do some work, and a looping pass from Harrison Clamp saw Harry Armstrong muscle over in the corner, and Greenwood converted.
Player/coach Greenwood was next to cross the line with a show and go next to the Spartans line and added the conversion to give a healthy 16-0 lead at half time.
The game was a story of two halves, with the Knights giving away sloppy penalties and unforced errors saw them hit five repeat sets, before Spartans crossed for their first points.
With their tails up, Spartan crossed again in quick succession to give the Knights some serious worries .
From the bench, veteran Andy Wooler and Tony Spensley came on to steady the ship a little, offering surging runs to the away side, before Brown scored to seal the win.
The Knights came up against a tough side in the Spartans today, but left the field worthy winners.
Training for the Knights resumes on Wednesday 7:00 PM, at Sandylands, Skipton RUFC.
