A MOHAMMED Qasim hat trick helped Silsden record an amazing 6-2 win over Hemsworth Miners Welfare which moved into the top five of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
The Cobbydalers collected their first home victory of the season, following convincing defeats to Eccleshill United and Thackley, and are now unbeaten in four.
Fresh from beating Penistone Church 2-0, thanks to Jack Normanton and
Qasim strikes, Danny Forrest's men were quick out of the blocks.
Normanton broke up the wing and slid the ball to Qasim. He curled the ball around Daniel Morton into the Miners net with only two minutes on the clock.
Joe Jagger was a threat all afternoon and when the forward received a quick throw in he immediately found Qasim who doubled his side's lead.
Frustration led to Hemsworth’s skipper Harry Viggars receiving a caution for a heavy tackle on Qasim. He was fortunate it was not a red as the Silsden man needed several minutes of treatment.
Before the break, Viggars broke down the right and was brought down in the box by goalkeeper Sammy Lee. Kane Swinburn netted from the spot.
Eight minutes into the second half, Khurram Shazad went on a mazy run from the centre circle. Cutting in and out, he hit a screamer into the top corner, Silsden had their two goal advantage restored.
Shortly after, Hemsworth’s left-back slid the ball to Adam Wilson, Lee managed to push the shot wide. The inswinging corner would catch the stopper out though as he could only fumble it into his own net.
Again, the hosts were not deterred and the net bulged on the 70th minute mark when Qasim crossed for Normanton to blast home.
A couple of minutes later, in a repeat move, Jagger made it five.
The movement between Qasim, Jagger and Normanton was almost telepathic. The former bagged his third to complete the rout 12 minutes before the end.
Silsden will travel to Goole tonight before a blank weekend due to original opponents Sherwood Colliery being involved in the FA Cup action.
