DURING the FA Cup tie on Saturday between Guiseley and Blyth Spartans, Lions' captain Hamza Bencherif, was subject to racial abuse from a fan.
Guiseley won the game 1-0, but the incident certainly put a dampener on the host's well deserved victory.
Speaking on his Twitter after the game, Bencherif said: "Thank you to the @Blyth_Spartans, players, fans and staff that showed instant support in todays #FACup game. Officials and both clubs dealt superbly with an isolated individual who shouted racist abuse to me. All the above kicking #racism together."
Non-league reporter, Thomas Feaheny, also commented on the incident which occurred during the FA Cup tie.
He said: "Credit to Hamza for how he reacted, the players/staff from both clubs who helped after & also to the fans who applauded the anti-racism statement that was read out.
"Hopefully the person who said these things gets identified & banned."
