Joe Crosby almost doubled Silsden's advantage following a goalmouth scramble, before the excellent Kelly was on hand to keep Hemsworth out after a fine strike from the edge of the box.
Ant Brown sealed the points for the Cobbydalers with 12 minutes to go, volleying the ball home after a good cross from the left wing.
Laird's superb block preserved the two-goal advantage for his side, before Hemsworth missed the chance to grab a late consolation after somehow shooting wide of an open goal after Kelly was beaten to the ball.
Silsden remain in fifth, but are now just one point off second, and the coveted promotion play-off spot.
Thackley and Albion Sports were not due to be in action anyway, but they were joined on the sidelines by Eccleshill United whose home game with Barton Town was called off due to a frozen pitch.
