GARGRAVE will meet Cowling in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League’s Wynn Cup final.
The Division One sides qualified for the showpiece event on Sunday, August 6 at the Airedale Oval by winning their semi-finals last Sunday.
Gargrave put Hepworth & Idle in at Westfield Lane and dismissed them for 103, with Joe Wood outstanding with 6-20, backed up by Ben Howlett’s 2-14.
Wood then starred with the bat, scoring 34 not out and adding 53 unbroken for the seventh wicket with Chris Lambert (15no) when the match was in the balance at 55-6.
Shaun Airey had earlier scored 29 for Gargrave, who took 23.2 overs to reach their target.
Cowling’s tie was switched from Riddlesden to Keighley Road at short notice, and home side Cowling put in Eldwick & Gilstead, who made 152-8, with the wickets being shared.
Rahman Ali then scored 83 and skipper Martyn Dalby 27 as Cowling breezed home inside 29 overs to win by eight wickets.
Ironically, the two finalists met in the league on Saturday, with Gargrave in bother at 48-4 when rain stopped play, Connor Brown taking 3-21.
There was no play at Sutton, where Haworth Road Meths were the visitors.
No match was completed in Division Two, which was frustrating for Thornton-in-Craven, who seemed to be in charge at home to Skipton CI.
The Sandylanders were dismissed for 100, despite Connors Hall Brown’s 30 and 32 not out by No 11 Waqar Shabir.
Ian Holden (4-22) and Mark Laycock (3-31) took the bulk of the wickets, and the hosts were 49-2 in reply off 12 overs when the match was halted.
There was no play at either Glusburn (v Bradford & Bingley III) or Long Lee (v Silsden).
Two matches finished in Division Three, and Cononley suffered their first league defeat of the season – at title rivals Bowling Baptist.
Cononley, sent in, were rolled over for 79, with only Andrew Starkey (22), Scott Brook (12) and Edward Washington (13) reaching double figures.
The Scotchman Road hosts won by eight wickets inside 16 overs to go nine points clear of Cononley, who in turn are 33 points in front of Gargrave II.
The latter were the only other team to win, defeating visitors Cowling II by four wickets after dismissing them for 75.
Reyan Hassan (26), Avijeet Ghosh (13) and Ubaid Rauf (15) were the only players to trouble the scorers unduly as the wickets were shared between Will Storr (4-19), Ben Wood (3-28) and Stuart Weatherall (2-11).
Tom Vernon then batted solidly, making 33 not out, as Gargrave won by four wickets, despite Rauf’s 4-29.
Play barely got underway at Skipton CI II, who made 21-0 against Haworth II, while the only match to start in Division Four was at Silsden II, who were 29-0 against Bowling Baptist II.
