WITH the entire North West League championship fixtures washed out for the second weekend in a row, two Craven teams had a brief chance to relieve the gloom in a T20 derby at Barnoldswick.
In the quarter-final, Settle posted 115 all out, openers Ashen Silva (29) and Tremaine Dowrich (11) setting the pace. There were run-a-ball contributions from James Snowden (24) and John Davidson (20) in the middle order, but the last four wickets fell for just three runs in the scramble as overs ran out.
Barnoldswick won by eight wickets with an over to spare, skipper Justin Gilliland making 41 in even time, with Chirag Khurana unbeaten on 38. Their side progress to NWCL Finals Day at Padiham on 30 July.
Settle hope to see some league cricket this Saturday as the first team host Farnworth Social while the seconds travel to Foulridge. The Development XI have their own T20 group match at Barnoldswick on Thursday and a home league game against Oswaldtwistle on Sunday.
And the firsts will once again entertain Farnworth Social, this time in the semi-final of the Hamer Cup on Sunday 6 August, after their stunning defeat of league leaders Little Lever three weeks ago.
