NORTH Ribblesdale travelled to Ossett for the first ever league meeting between the two sides and it would be the visitors who claimed a 27-15 victory.
Ossett are a club on the up but found Ribb’s expansive style of play ultimately too much for them.
The visitors are slowly adapting to new coach Tom Davidson’s style of play and are becoming a joy to watch with their high-risk and expansive style.
The hosts did take the lead, though through their classy full back Crawford. It took time for the visitors to gain the upper hand, but young speedster Jack Hutchinson caught a fine crossfield kick before taking on the winger and then the full-back for a converted try.
As the interval approached the away side’s forwards pressed, and lively hooker Ryan Hewitt drove over for another converted try to give Ribb a 12 - 8 interval lead.
The second half Ribb gradually got into the ascendancy with two further tries, another from Hewitt and Andy Thwaite, with Mickey Thwaite converting one and a penalty.
Ossett got a consolation try at the finish to leave a final score of 27 - 15 in Ribb’s favour.
This week sees promotion hopefuls Baildon visit Grove Park on a day of centenary celebration for past captains, Presidents and chairmen.
