WHARFEDALE RUFC are doing their bit to abide by the new tackling law.
In April, the RFU Council voted to adopt law changes to lower the tackle height in community rugby to below the base of the sternum.
Showing they’re fully committed to improving safety within the community game, Wharfedale have presented their Mini and Juniors section of the club with new shirts, which have been kindly sponsored by several local businesses.
Designed with a white band across the shirt, Dale’s new jerseys were made to coincide with the new tackle height laws to aid the players, coaches and referees.
The white band represents the maximum legal height of the tackle, with all tackles needing to be below that mark.
This clever idea was presented to the club several years ago by the late Michael Harrison (Clarty) and it has finally been put to use within the Mini and Juniors section.
