SETTLE Cricket Club’s professional left-hand batting sensation, Ashen Silva has achieved a remarkable feat.
At the start of December, he surpassed the milestone of scoring 5000 first-class career runs which, of course, is no easy task.
He’s collected runs over the years at a number of Sri Lankan clubs, which is where he originates from, including Negombo Cricket Club and Chilaw Marians Cricket Club.
Speaking to Settle’s social media pages, Silva was delighted, when he said: “I’m really happy to have achieved 5k first class runs, and I’m looking forward to joining Settle again in 2024 to face a new challenge in the Northern Premier League. I’ll be hoping to contribute more runs, wickets and wins.”
Settle have also announced the signing of exciting prospect Will Smith from Steeton. Smith, who lives in Settle, attended Settle College and has played Yorkshire age group representative cricket, is a left-hand batter and left arm seamer and will add depth, quality and competition to Settle’s growing squad.
