Barnoldswick Town were back in action last night, looking to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to Prestwich Heys at the weekend when they travelled to fellow mid-table side AFC Liverpool.
They were 2-0 down on the road in this North West Counties Football League Premier Division clash on Merseyside, but Gareth Hill scored on the stroke of half-time to put them back in the contest.
AFC Liverpool moved 3-1 up on the hour mark, before both sides had a goal apiece disallowed for offside.
Hill brought Barnoldswick back within a goal when he headed home with 20 minutes to go.
But AFC Liverpool ran riot in the final 15 minutes, netting three times to record a comprehensive 6-2 home win.
Barnoldswick will attempt to shake off the defeat tomorrow night, when they go to mid-table Irlam, who have several games in hand on nearly every other team in the division.
Town are then playing on Saturday too, as a gruelling week ends with a tough trip to high-flying Chadderton.
