AFTER prevailing over league leaders Bury last Tuesday, Barlick were expected to see of struggling NWCFL Premier Division side Longridge Town on Saturday, but ultimately failed.
Despite a Gareth Hill brace in the second half, it wasn't enough for the hosts as Longridge claimed all three points by winning the contest 4-2.
Luke Smith opened the scoring for the visitors on the 14th minute when he calmly stroked home Anderton's deflected shot to put his side ahead.
Malick Diakite Tanou doubled the visitors' advantage only two minutes later and it was a fine effort. The pacey forward cut in off the touchline before firing a curling effort in off the far post to given Longridge a deserved 2-0 early lead.
After the break Hill reduced the deficit from the spot, but back came the visitors to restore their two-goal advantage once again through Josh Winder.
Some brilliant work by Anderton resulted in Winder being found, and he had the easiest of tap ins to put Longridge 3-1 ahead.
Hill poked home from close range two minutes later (71), but it wasn't to impact the end result in any way.
Winder collected the ball on the 88th minute and drilled a fierce strike into the top corner of Jakovlevs' goal to seal a 4-2 victory for the away team.
Barlick return to action tomorrow evening when they hosts Burscough.
