FOUR students from Quest Karate Club based in Skipton attended the English Karate Federation National Championships on 13-14 April at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield representing their association British Sport Karate Federation.
Over the two days the four athletes had to compete in the fighting sections (Kumite) against the best Karate athletes in England.
Juliet Roberts, 12-years-old who is a pupil at South Craven School attended her first English National Championships in the 12-13 years Girls - 42kg section winning a Bronze medal.
Both Emily Moran and Stella Osborne, 15-years-old, also from South Craven School competed in the Female Cadet 14-15years sections, Moran winning Gold in the -54kg division and Osborne winning Gold in the +61kg division.
Frank Pullano, Head Coach of Quest Karate Club and the British Sport Karate Federation said: "This was a fantastic achievement by Juliet, Emily and Stella and we are extremely proud of each of them as they all worked very hard in the lead up to the event.
"To have two National English Champions in Emily and Stella, will be inspiring for the younger members in the club."
The weekend concluded on a high for Quest Karate Club with Jack Moran (18-years-old) apprentice at Guysons of Skipton won Gold in the Under 21 years -60kg section.
Moran is a veteran in competitions considering his age, however this was his first National English title within this age group, and he didn’t fail to deliver in every fight to win Gold. He also competed in the Senior Male -60kg section and came away with a Bronze medal in a very challenging section.
The final section of the day was the Senior Men’s Team event and Moran formed part of the British Sport Karate Team taking on twelve other teams from around England finishing with a Bronze medal.
Head Coach, Pullano said: "Jack was fantastic all weekend and showed that he is number one in his age group in England.
"He has been training in Karate since he was four-years-old and his dedication, commitment and hard work has paid off and everyone at the club is very proud of him and his achievements, not just at National level but at international level too."
