ALTHOUGH they obviously want to finish higher, Steeton are bang on course for their estimated final placing in the Aire-Wharfe League Premier Division.

They won the toss at home to struggling Bilton and dismissed them for 119, despite the visitors being 63-1.

Overseas Tremaine Dowrich (3-31) saw off the lower order, the accurate Stephen Pearson backing him up well with 2-27, with all of the Steeton bowlers having accurate figures.

An opening stand of 45 between James Robinson (14) and Luke Chapman (37no) saw Steeton on their way, and Paul Quinlan (23) and Pearson (12no) helped to finish the job off for the loss of four wickets inside 30 overs.

Steeton are now eighth, which is smack between their stated early-season hope of finishing as high as seventh and as low as ninth.

Skipton are 10th in Division Two after a five-wicket setback at home to Old Leodiensians, who climbed one spot to sixth.

Having been sent in, the hosts, who were without skipper Gary Owens, made 164-6, which was largely down to David Bunyan (60no), whose runs came off 73 balls and included seven fours and a six.

Helping him were stand-in captain Keir Nelson (27) and Robert Walker (26), who put on 45 for the third wicket.

Leos were 10-2 after tea, Moheed Shafiq (3-31) bagging two early victims, but a stand of 85 between Saugata Battacharya (23) and keeper Curtis Sugden (63) eased any nerves, and Tom Stephens (24) and Zana Waixel (33no) almost took them over the line with a partnership of 45 for the fifth wicket, the target being passed at the end of the 35th over.
