STEETON have won their third game of the season in the Aire-Wharfe League Premier Division, defeating visitors Tong Park Esholt by six wickets.

However, Steve Pearson’s side are still odds against stopping up a year after being promoted as they trail third-from-bottom Rawdon by 36 points with 10 matches remaining.

Esholt chose to bat, but probably regretted it at the tea interval as they had been rolled over for just 107, Waddilove Cup finalists Steeton winning by six wickets in the 27th over.

Meanwhile, Skipton were in the runs again in Division Two, scoring 238-9 on the way to a 127-run victory over visitors Bingley Congs.

Opener Shahid Nadeem (81) and Keir Nelson (24) put on 74 for the second wicket after Skipton chose to bat, and skipper Gary Owens weighed in with 52.

Nadeem’s runs came off 115 deliveries and included eight fours and two sixes, while Owens hit five fours and two sixes off 43 balls.

Congs were then dismissed for 111, with Finlay Walker taking 4-29 and Moheed Shafiq 4-0 aas the visitors lost their last seven wickets for just eight runs.
