Skipton RFC, one of the world's oldest rugby clubs, is about to enter its 150th season and big changes are set to take place.
The club have announced Yorkshire legend Neil Spence as the men’s Head Coach for the 2024/25 season.
Coming into the club’s 150th season, there could not be a better time for this appointment, and everyone is excited to see what is in store.
The club have also announced that Kimberley Chapman has been appointed as Director of Rugby ahead of the upcoming season.
This is an important role in terms of communication between players, coaches and the committee.
Chapman has been a leader within the Skipton Ladies Roses Squad since its inception; she was a recipient of an RFU Volunteer of the Year Award in 2023 and there is no one better placed to take on this prestigious role.
The club has also entered into a new main club sponsor agreement with Skipton Hire Centre.
With its head office just across the road from Skipton RFC’s clubhouse and grounds at Sandylands, and with depots across North and West Yorkshire, the South Lakes and Lancashire, Skipton Hire Centre are one of the region’s leading suppliers of plant hire, tool hire and access equipment.
To kick-start the season, the club is holding a family fun day at Sandylands on Saturday 24 August with all members, their families and guests welcome.
The season itself commences on Saturday 7 September with a home fixture against West Park, Leeds.
