Barnoldswick Town backed up Saturday's 1-0 win over Cheadle Town by coming from behind to beat visiting Longridge Town 2-1 on Tuesday evening.

It means their strong start to the North West Counties Football League Premier Division season continued, with them having picked up 17 points from their opening eight games.

They only sit ninth in the table, but have at least one game in hand on all eight of the sides currently above them.

The goals for Barlick on Tuesday night came from Will Procter and Gareth Hill in the second, after fast-starting Longridge had taken an early lead through Harvey Roberts.

Just after his side went in front, Andy Hill was shown a straight red card for Barnoldswick, but they survived a nervy final 25 minutes with 10 men to claim all three points.

Barnoldswick’s next game sees them travel to Curzon Ashton on Saturday in the FA Cup second qualifying round, as they look to cause a major upset at the National League North high-flyers.
