IN a thoroughly entertaining contest, Barnoldswick Town earned a 1-1 draw in perhaps their best performance of the season on Tuesday evening at home to Ramsbottom United.

Gareth Hill's second half strike was enough for the hosts to come away with a well deserved point.

Things didn't start well for Barlick, as the visitors were awarded a penalty in the 5th minute of the contest after a rash challenge from the home side.

Up stepped Thomas Hoyle to clinically dispatch the effort beyond the reach of Callum Jakovlevs.

The hosts responded well and were beginning to produce a number of slick attacking moves, G.Hill putting a shot narrowly wide in the 28th minute.

Leon Creech then went close as he met a fabulous cross from the wing, but his effort was well kept out by the visiting keeper.

In the second half the home side continued to probe and were playing some scintillating football at times, but they couldn't find the net.

That soon changed though, when Hill pounced on a defensive mix-up to race clear, take the ball beyond the goalkeeper and then finish the opportunity calmly to level the score at 1-1.

Ramsbottom did strike the post late on as both sides pushed for a winner in this high quality game, but the game ended at 1-1.

Barlick return to action on Saturday when they travel to Stockport Town in a 3:00 pm kick-off.

Town remain 18th in the league table.
