BARNOLDSWICK Town survived a South Liverpool fightback to eventually claim a 3-2 victory at home on Saturday.
The hosts were cruising at 3-0 up with just 23 minutes of normal time remaining, but the visitors scored two late goals to set up a nervy ending to the contest for Steve Pickup's side.
Barlick's opener arrived on the 29th minute and it was no surprise to see Gareth Hill, the home side's prolific marksman, give his side a deserved lead.
The ball was clipped to the back post and there was Hill to cushion a header into South Liverpool's goal.
And the home side doubled their advantage only four minutes later through Ryan Moore.
The ball fell to him from range, and he was on hand to lash a fierce strike into the top corner to give his side a 2-0 lead.
Barlick's third goal was another classy finish and it came from Oli Roberts on this occasion.
He worked some space on the edge of the box before placing a curling effort into the far corner of the away side's net. Barlick were now 3-0 up after 67 minutes, but they didn't make the final quarter of the contest all that easy.
On the 79th minute, Leon Arnasalam pulled one back for the visiting team, and Reece Dwyer made it 3-2 in the 88th minute of the contest.
Barlick, to their relief, held on for a valuable victory and three points.
Town return to action tomorrow evening when they travel to Squires Gate.
The NWCFL Premier Division table is beginning to open for Barnoldswick now. They sit only nine points outside of the play-offs but have several games in hand on the teams above them, while they have five on a selection of teams above them.
