The return of the warm weather brought the batters to the fore again in the Mewies Solicitors Craven & District League, with 14 totals over 200 and four individual centuries.

Crossflatts are the sole leaders of Division One after beating Glusburn, while Cullingworth went down in a run-fest at Bradley.

The leaders entertained Glusburn and dismissed them for 136. Only a last-wicket partnership of 41 by Mark Pickles (22) and Steve Brown (18no) offered much resistance as Mick Addy took 6-51.

’Flatts skipper Mick Brooksbank hit 67 not out as he and Mohammed Adil (17no) put on an undefeated 75 to take the homesters to the points by seven wickets.

Neil Robinson scored a superb 139 not out as Bradley crashed 281-4 at home to Cullingworth. Nick Williamson chipped in with 44 and Neil Andrews 38 as Gareth Marshall claimed 3-103.

The visitors started brightly with an opening partnership of 132 between John Terry (40) and Liam Sumpter, who made 72.

At 247-5, the Roydwood Terrace side looked to be in with a chance of pulling off a brilliant victory.

However, Matt Simpson had other ideas as he performed the hat-trick and the innings closed on 266. Omar Khatab made 51 as Simpson finished with 5-82. The win moves the South Craven side into joint second with Cullingworth.

Haworth Road are joint fourth after they pulled off a one-wicket win up at Haworth. The Bronte side made 167, with Damian Rowell making 58 and Jamie Rowell 44 as Mansha Khan and Mohammed Zahid took four wickets each.

The Baildon Bottom side were on the verge of losing at 158-9 but Pete Rodwell (78no) and Nick Griggs (5no) got them over the line.

Embsay are level with Haworth Road after they rattled up 269-9 at home to Ingrow, who replied with a very creditable 196.

The star of the show was undoubtedly 17-year-old Lloyd Davies, who made a stunning 134 and then took 5-24 in eight overs.

For the Hainworth side, Adie Parker (49) and Alan Broadley (58) put on 110 for the first wicket, where both of them perished. Only Mark Price (31) offered much resistance after that.

There was a surprise at Cowling, where the home side despatched Oakworth by 128 runs.

David Hindle top-scored with 36 as Cowling made 189-9, Luke Taylor taking 3-32.

The Cure Hill side were strangely out of sorts and crashed to 71 all out as Steve Richardson took 5-24 and Martyn Dalby 5-43.

Cononley remain anchored to the bottom of the table after losing by 110 runs at Bingley Congs.

The Beckfoot Lane made a slow start, reaching 51 in 14 overs. Then Lee Poppleton got in on the act and smashed 77 off 67 balls, including ten fours and four sixes, and making full use of the life given to him when he was dropped on seven.

Mark Hagyard and Freddie Pearson took four wickets each. The visitors were never in the hunt, despite 49 from Herbie Starkey, and they were all out for 152, with Neil Copping claiming 5-31 and Aidy Dibb 3-41.

Division Two leaders Thornton slipped up at Ingrow St John’s. The Street Lane side made 151, M Mansha top-scoring with 49 as Will Proctor took 3-24 and Jason Lockley 3-27.

The Booth Bridge Laners were then dismissed for 133, with Dan Oldfield making 40 and Kev Pollard 31. Mansha claimed 4-41 and S Iqbal 3-11.

That defeat allows Haworth West End and Barrowford to move within a couple of points of Thornton.

The Bronte side entertained Sutton and scored 175, with Joe Alvey making 56 and Joe Bottomley 38 as Simon Doane took 3-40.

Doane then top-scored with 49 as the Royd Hill side were dismissed for 123, with Andy Benfield taking 5-39 and Bottomley 4-35.

Barrowford were over the border at Sandy Lane and amassed 180-8, with Greg Boyes scoring 70 and Liam Roberts 35 as Steve Carass took 3-50.

The Greenwood Park side were then knocked over for 94, with Chris Platt taking 6-39 and Andy Roberts 3-20.

Pendle Forest galloped up the hill to Foulridge and blasted 267-6, with Peter Archer making 78 and Matthew Lutz 51. The Noyna side were knocked over for 106, Joe Wilkinson being the best bowler with 4-30.

Wilsden’s Dave Henson made a fine 103 of his side’s 180-9 at Riddlesden. The Stockbridge side replied with 126, with Rishabh Jain scoring 49 as Dave Collins took 5-32 and Steve Wilson 5-63.

Long Lee’s trek to Chatburn proved fruitless as they perished by five wickets. The Golden View side set a target of 172 to beat, with Richard Ayrton (65) and John Green (42) putting on 97 for the fifth wicket. The Ribble Valley side reached 79-4, only for Ben Threlfall (74no) and Matthew Eglin to take them within seven runs of their target.

In Division Three, leaders Airedale are now three points clear of Gargrave after their six- wicket victory at Cononley II. Nadeem Zaman (27no and 3-28) was the winners’ best contributor.

Gargrave take over second spot after they saw off Ingrow St John’s II at Skipton Road by 65 runs.

The home side went first and slumped to 20-4 before Will Smith (40), S Ridgeway (35) and Will Beckwith (24) saw them reach 161. Ali Khalid took 5-20 off 12.2 overs and S Khan 3-47.

The Saints also suffered an early-innings slump but didn’t have the resources to recover and closed on 96. Smith took 3-2 off 2.2 overs and John Beckwith 3-14.

Eldwick & Gilstead drop to third after they slipped up at Glusburn II, losing by three wickets.

It was the Park Field side’s golden oldies that took the limelight. Bryan Hollis took 5-58 from 22.2 overs and Rummy Smith 5-61 to help the Dick Hudson’s side back to the hut for 150. The visitors had David Barton (41no) and Jack Wright (35) to thank for the points.

Up at Cure Hill, Denholme went first and rattled up 255-9, with Adam Taylor making 94 and N Woodhead 46 as Kev Hird battled away to finish with 4-80. The homesters could only manage 132, with Hird making 38 as Tom Greenwood took 4-25.

Crossflatts II and Cullingworth II lead the way in Division Four. Crossflatts II went to Pendle Forest II and posted 202-8, with Mark Jones scoring 54 and Lee Bailey 43, Iffy Ahmed taking 4-36.

The Fence side replied with 133, of which Ahmed scored 65 as Brian Freimanis took 3-12 off 9.1 overs.

Cullingworth II, three points behind, pulled off a stunning victory at home to Bradley II, for whom J Beetham (57no), Nick Lambert (52), Michael Clarkson (47) and Matt Buckmaster (39) contributed to their 259-6.

With the home side on 110-5, everything looked to be under control. However, Ryan Clark (82) and George Fletcher (52no) put on 130 for the sixth wicket before they reached their target in the 37th over, winning by four wickets.

Cowling II finally got their first victory in another high-scoring game at Sutton II. The home side blasted 265-8, with Gary Williams making 90 and Simon Todd 71 as Ben Thurston took 6-67. The visitors roared back with 266-4, with openers Steve Dalby (62) and Richard Cleaver (68) putting on 156.

Then Ben Thurston joined in with 53 not out to take them to victory with just four overs to spare.

Little Marsden remain top of Division Five after a nine-wicket victory over Denholme II, with Zulk Tariq (78 and 3-7) being their star.

Bingley Congs II enjoyed their trip to Pendle Forest III, winning by 68 runs. Congs made 200, with Tony Teale hitting 53 as Mo Khan claimed 8-35 off 18.4 overs, Matt Hagerty then taking 5-57.

* The weather played havoc with the second round of the Cowling Cup, with several matches put off until this Sunday.

Holders Crossflatts II were at home to Ingrow II and, with no play possible, went out on the toss of a coin.

Sandy Lane II entertained Pendle Forest II and, after a delayed start, the game was reduced to 30 overs per side.

The Fence side had reached 181-4 in their overs with Nabeel Ahmed making 66, Joel Duerden 45 and Craig Vickery 39 before play was abandoned, Lane winning the bowl-out 2-1.

At Barrowford II, where Cullingworth II were the visitors, the home side had reached 203-6 in 26.3 overs when play ceased, with Ajmal Choudry scoring 161. The bowl out was won 1-0 by Barrowford.

Playing on Sunday are the games at Bradley, Oakworth, Wilsden, Riddlesden and Haworth West End.
