Haworth Road locked horns with Embsay for the second successive day last weekend – on the latter occasion in the third round of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League’s Wynn Cup.

The Baildon Bottom side managed 218, Waj Mahmood top-scoring with 42, Phil Rodwell making 37 and Mansha Khan 33 as Haroon Ali was the pick of the bowlers (5-58). However, 37 extras didn’t help Embsay.

After losing two early wickets, Bob Bateman (30) and Nathan Robinson (23) pulled things around but perished to successive balls.

Sam Keane made 40 and Aslam Hussein 27 but ten an over was too tall an order and the innings closed on 185-9 (M Zahid 5-39 off 12 overs).

Foulridge visited Bradley and were knocked over for 126, James Heseltine taking 5-26.

The hosts roared home for the loss of one wicket, Craig Tempest making 61 not out and Chris Capstick 46. Bradley will now visit Haworth Road in the semi-finals on Sunday, July 11, Long Lee hosting Haworth in the other tie.

There was a stunning win in the third round when Haworth nipped over the valley to face Oakworth and came away victorious by eight wickets.

The Cure Hill side made 203-6, with Rob Hopkinson scoring 60, Michael Scarborough 51 and Brannan Lawn 33.

The Bronte side were 32-2 when the Rowell brothers came together and they surged to the winning post with an undefeated stand of 175 as Jamie made 103 not out and Damian 87 not out.

Long Lee put their poor league form behind them as they travelled to Sandy Lane and won by seven wickets.

Adam Sutcliffe (64) led the Greenwood Park side to 163-6. The visitors cruised to victory with Richard Ayrton scoring 62 not out and Kenny Sejake 40.
