There has been much activity this week at Settle Golf Club at the foot of Giggleswick Scar.
In a closely-contested event, where two shots covered the top six, victory in the Millennium Cup went to Simon Murgatroyd, his second trophy in eight days! The seniors continued their run of victories, this time against Baxenden (6&1).
In a charity event, organised by the Old Giggleswickian Golfing Society, club captain Ray Jones assembled a strong team to secure first place with 93 points (best two to count).
Paired with seniors’ captain Michael Elstub, he led the club’s Dales League team to victory over Casterton, the highlight of which was a crushing defeat (9&7) handed out by Dennis Holt and David Clements.
Sub-par rounds were once again the order of the day in the June Medal Competition. Division One was won by John Lassey (80-12-68) and Division Two by Colin Hall (85-16-69), who just pipped the club captain on a card countback.
