Ingrow Seconds are through to the semi-finals of the Mewies Solicitors Craven & District League's Cowling Cup – and they haven’t bowled a ball yet!
In the first round, their opponents Long Lee Seconds cried off. Then in the second round, they knocked holders Crossflatts Seconds out on the toss of a coin when play prevented any play.
Last Sunday, they should have entertained Sandy Lane Seconds, who in turn couldn’t raise a side, so Ingrow Seconds progressed.
Glusburn Seconds were in fine fettle as they journeyed over the brow to Cononley Seconds.
They rattled up 271-4, with Ian Beattie and Bryan Hollis (65) putting on 98 for the first wicket.
David Barton made 47, Mark Johnstone 44 as Beattie carried his bat for 74no. The home side replied with 136-8 as Rummy Smith took the bowling honours with 3-21.
Sutton Seconds, unlike Saturday, were at full strength and smashed 212-5, with Neil Hardwick making 85 and Paul Williams 33 as Joe Shimmin took 3-30.
Luke Chipman made 56 as the Bronte side replied with a modest 117. James Marshall finished with 3-34 and David Holdsworth 3-22.
In the other game, at Bull Holme, Barrowford II made 217-6, with Mohammed Shahid top-scoring with 66.
Visitors Bradford & Bingley Thirds replied with a very creditable 163, with Dave Critchlow making 50.
