Pennine League Division Four West: Cowling Harlequins 28 King Cross Park A 58
With their first team without a game, King Cross Park had a strong squad but Cowling did not make it easy for them.
Park's centre went in for two early tries down Quins' right before the hosts woke up and put real pressure on King's line. George Long powered over, Daz Greenwood converting, and it got even better for Cowling when man of the match Craig Nicholson crossed and Greenwood again added the extras.
Long went over for another converted score but the Halifax side's fitness began to pay dividends as they piled up points themselves.
Facko Wary, Nicky Smith and Ali Feather all worked hard getting Cowling forward and Josh Jolley, who was having a great game, powered over for a fine try, Greenwood kicking the extra two.
Confidence flowed through Quins as Ben Norton, Ash Wood and Nathan Parkin went through the pain barrier to get them close before Greenwood, with his trademark dummy, dived over the line.
With new players coming in every week, Cowling are fired up for rivals Wyke A at home on Saturday (2.30pm).
In the same division, Silsden were given a walkover at home to Meltham All Blacks, while Worth Village lost 52-25 at Illingworth in the Halifax ARL Joe Blackford Memorial Trophy semi-final.
