SILSDEN STORM'S first ever junior rugby league tournament was a big success.
The under-11s welcomed Siddal, Featherstone Lions, Emley Moor, Birstall Victoria, Dewsbury Moor and Illingworth to take part in the family fun day.
Despite the rain, spirits were high as the tournament attracted a large crowd.
Featherstone Lions went unbeaten and took the trophy for finishing top spot.
Head coach Rob Weir said: "Results really didn't matter on the day. The main objective was to put Silsden Storm on the junior rugby league map, making sure everyone enjoyed the day and also raising much-needed funds for the club.
"Feedback from visiting teams has been fantastic and we look forward to holding the event again next year.
"The club is going from strength to strength, with more and more kids turning up to join us."
Silsden were grateful to local businesses for sponsorships, including generous donations from main sponsors Workouts gym, Northern Escalator Installations and Spencer Fabrications, with £957 being raised on the day.
The club are still looking to attract new boys and girls, aged six to 11. They train Tuesdays and Thursdays (6.30-7.30pm) in Silsden park.
