Pennine League 11-a-side Division: Lock Lane 66 Cowling Harlequins 22
COWLING knew Castleford side Lock Lane side were young and quick – and they didn't disappoint.
But Quins' central rearguard was solid, restricting the hosts to scores out wide thanks to good defence from Daz Palmer, Nathan Parkin and Liam Sanctuary.
Cowling's first points came off the boot of Daz Greenwood as he popped over two in front of the sticks from a penalty to make it 22-2.
Greenwood was on the scoreboard again after tapping and going over on the next set after Lock Lane had given away three penalties in a row.
Greenwood converted and Quins added further points after great running from Olly Carter, Simon Parker and Tom Holland got Sanctuary near the line and he powered over as the visitors trailed 34-14 at the break.
Cowling struck first in the second half when a great run from Ash Wood got Sanctuary near the line before he went over again in the corner.
Quins then ran out of steam as Lock Lane ran in some brilliant tries. The score became one-sided but Cowling weren't finished as Luke Jeffery gathered a short kick-off and ran 50 metres to go under the sticks, Jeffery kicking the extras.
The south Craven side now have a week off before hosting Stainland on December 17.
Cowling also raised £105 for Airedale children's ward on their Santa pub crawl on Saturday night.
