SILSDEN Storm under-13s dedicated their first-ever league title as a team to their legendary founder.
They went through their 2019 league campaign only losing one league fixture back in June.
Their solid and hardworking defence allowed them to go undefeated at home and also not only get their first-ever win over local rivals Keighley Albion Reds but do a league double over them.
Under the guidance of head coach Mickey Hurley and assistants Mark Emmott and Chris Hextall, the u13s have come on leaps and bounds this year following a not so good 2018 season and losing a number of players who left the club.
Although convincing all season, Storm took it down to the last day of the season where they had to avoid defeat against Dewsbury Celtic, with no less than seven players missing through illness, injury and playing for school, Storm ran out 42-6 winners to bring the league back to Silsden.
This team are made up of rugby union players from Keighley, Skipton and Ilkley along with eight only rugby league players, the bond this team have is fantastic to see.
This league title has also been dedicated to Keighley Cougars legend Phil Stephenson, who died following his battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
Phil and his wife Karen are the founders and creators of the Silsden Storm club, without them there wouldn't have a club in Silsden.
Silsden Storm are recruiting at minis (ages 3-5), u7s (years 1&2), u8s (year 3), u9s (year 4) and are also looking for more coaches to join the club.
